USA Today tweets about Twitter
USA Today jumped on the Twitter bandwagon today, devoting a sizable amount of space to th
e micro-blogging startup. In the article, USA Today addresses the long running Twitter failure of “site crashes,” stating: “Twitter has become so popular, so fast, that keeping up with its fast-growing user base is a real issue. So many people now use Twitter to update friends that the system often crashes.” The irony of this statement couldn’t be more perfect: this mainstream mention caused, yep, you guessed it, another site crash due to all the traffic.
The crash, the mentions, and the article are all illustrative of the old embracing the new in their own way. However, wouldn’t they truly have been hip if instead of writing about it, they had tweeted about it?
